We wholeheartedly applaud the efforts of District Attorney Gascon to create a new specialized vehicular manslaughter unit in San Francisco to prosecute those who kill people through acts of gross negligence while behind the wheel. In my practice, I have seen quite egregious motorist behavior such as drunk driving, running a red light several seconds after it has turned red, motorists trying to weave their way through pedestrians at high speeds, and doing whatever it takes to shave a few seconds off their travel time.
